The Phase 5 Asym is new to the scene and is based on the "asymmetrical" surfboard design where you surf the wave break. Wakesurfing is essentially the same as riding a point break wave. The rider is constantly on a comparable wave direction, i.e. "left" or "right". In the case of wakesurfing behind the boat, we call this "port" or "starboard". The concept is simple. A wake surfboard specifically designed to ride on one side of the boat for even more performance than a traditional symmetrical one.

The design features a longer rail for quick response and speed back into the wake. The rounded part of the tail allows powerful carves and boost at the top of the wake. Re-entry into the wake after an air is accelerated by the unique asymmetrical shape. The extended, rounded nose allows the rider to get more reach inCarves from the top to the bottom of the wake.

Overall, we found the Asyms to have more drive than the traditional surf style board and come up with more speed. The Asym is equipped with Phase Five's FLEXtec V2 glass system. FLEXtec V2 gives the feel of a traditional surf board and offers wake surf specific features. It comes with an offset thruster to enhance the asymmetrical characteristics of the board.
